3 Meldrum Close, Dawlish, Devon, EX7 9JL

On arriving at 3 Meldrum Close, we were shocked by how unkept the property was. The cobwebs that were in every room were large, therefore it’s obviously been sometime since the property had been cleaned.

The overpowering smell of damp coming from the downstairs bedroom was awful. We had to open all the windows downstairs to air the property out. However, not just the smell of damp but the visible damp all around the room made it that we were unable to even use that room at all.

Every skirting board throughout was dirty, dusty & some were damp.

I hoovered the living area & under the sofa was lots of items (including a flip flop). How on Earth are these things missed when preparing the house for a paying guest!?

Every surface was either dusty, sticky or grubby. The plug hole in the bath was so clogged with hair & debris that water was not running away.

We even hoovered & wiped all the sofa cushions as those too were grubby. We definitely did not use the sofa scatter cushions as those were covered in stains.

No-one should have to spend nearly 2 hours of their holiday (as that’s what our stay in Dawlish was, for our children’s half-term) cleaning a property which should absolutely of been cleaned & ready for us, before we would even bring our suitcases in from the car. If it wasn’t for the fact we had driven nearly 2 hours & had no where else to stay, we would of left immediately.

It shocks us that not only was the property not clean, one bedroom was unable to be used but you are charging such a high rate for people to stay there. It’s not the guests responsibility to clean on arrival.

We checked your reviews online (unfortunately we did not do that before booking) & it would appear this is a common occurrence at your property. It’s not even lack of attention to detail, it’s sheer negligence!

Sadly, we had had enough of how unclean the property felt by Thursday & decided to leave on Friday morning (earlier than we had planned & paid for).

We would not recommend the property, unless it was managed better. You can not ‘run’ a holiday let & not do so properly. The severe damp alone in the bedroom we could not use should honestly be seen to immediately.
