Best Features
Guests love our first floor glass fronted decked terrace which is a perfect spot for a morning coffee or late lunch. Catch the amazing scenery in all seasons - beautiful sunsets and early sunrises. The house is across the road from Gareloch so you are within a few minutes walk to the lovely pebbly coves which wind right round the peninsula. We are also in close proximity to Loch Lomond and just 40 minutes drive from Glasgow airport. DAYS OUTThe cottage is close to numerous locations and scenery that you'll want to discover during your visit. We really love the little village of Drymen which is on the hills at the western end of the Campsie Fells. A little further on is Balmaha, which is also a popular tourist destination and has some good local eateries. Both locations you can visit easily in a day and are in the direction of Stirling.Balmaha is popular with walkers on the West Highland Way and is a great base for climbing Conic Hill and exploring the island of Inchcailloch. You won't want to miss exploring Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park plus the idyllic Loch Lomond shores. Nearby you can also go to Balloch Castle and Country Park.Farm shops local to the cottage include Ardardan Estate on the banks of the River Clyde and Auchentullich Farm shop which make their own ice cream. Both have cafe facilities and a shop to taste the fresh Scottish produce and home made ice cream.Within an hour's drive of our cottage is the historic town of Stirling, where you can visit it's impressive medieval castle and take in some of the restaurants and a spot of shopping. Glasgow is also do-able for a day trip - whether you want to take in the museums, media city or get a fix of retail therapy. The Victorian seaside town of Helensburgh is our nearest local town - about 5 miles from the house. Home to Scotland's only Submarine Museum, the town has a good choice of independent shops, cafes, restaurants and the Tower cinema. The sea front, with it's prominent pier is a great place to take in some sea air. Helensburgh train station has direct routes to Glasgow and Edinburgh. The town is easy to reach by train and car; and is about 40 minutes to Glasgow and the airport. If you are planning to stay a few days, Oban (with it's world class whisky dispensary) and historical Inverary Castle are both worth a visit.

Cottage Review:
We had a lovely time in Gareloch Cottage, it's a part of Scotland we had never been before. The cottage was very well equipped with everything you need might need. We enjoyed taking the small ferry across the firth of Clyde and then the train to Glasgow and we also spent time at Loch Lomand. |

Cottage Review:
I stayed at Gareloch Cottage with my mum and son in May. The cottage was lovely, very tastefully decorated and clean. It’s in a great location, right across from the water and not too far from Garelochead and Helensburgh. The patio area leading out from the main bedroom upstairs is fab. So nice to sit out and enjoy the views. Jo is a great host with good communication and very helpful. |
