Description of the self catering
This superbly renovated cottage, part of the original farmhouse at Dunstan Steads, a farm steading close to the dunes, lies within a few 100 metres of Embleton Bay and has commanding views across the dunes towards the sea. Furnished and equipped to a high standard, Mermaid Cottage offers excellent accommodation in a truly idyllic location. Embleton Bay has an impressive 2 mile sweep of fine sandy beach with the dramatic ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle at its southernmost end. Beyond this is the tiny fishing village of Craster, renowned for its oak smoked kippers, produced in the village since the early 19th century. There are easy coastal walks in either direction, linking up with the coastal footpath between Beadnell and Alnmouth. Embleton village is 1 mile and has a good golf course.Best Features
Ground floor. Small, modern, dining kitchen. Delightful double bedroom with French windows to decked patio and views of the coast, oak floor. En-suite bathroom with over bath shower and WC with limited headroom. First floor. Elegant lounge with Victorian fireplace, open fire, high ceilings, oak floor and French door to false balcony with splendid sea views. Sofa bed for +1 by arrangement (maximum 2 persons).

Wonderful three night stay in the Mermaid Cottage over the New Year period. Hosts provided us with everything that was needed. Lovely nautical and cosy feel to the cottage met with breathtaking views of Embleton Bay. Great location for walks to Low Newton, Dunstanburgh Castle and Craster. |

Delightful little cottage - perfect for two. Views down the lane and out to sea from both the bedroom and upstairs lounge. Cottage is well equipped and very comfortable. Lovely walks along the beach or coast path to Low Newton and Dunstanburgh castle and Craster. |

I have just spent eight days in Mermaid Cottage. It is rather special, not just in its\' enviable location, but it well thought out, cosey and warm. The owners are extremely kind and helpful.
