Swallows Cottage near Honiton is a family and pet friendly holiday cottage near Honiton in the East Devon countryside. Swallows Cottage is approximately two miles from Honiton and is one of two attached cottages close to the charming owners 17th century farmhouse.
They are in a brilliant, peaceful position with fine views, on the side of beech-tree-crowned Dumpdon Hill (Iron Age fort, good walks, Nat. Trust), above the Otter Valley. You are welcome to help when possible on the environmentally-friendly, well managed, clean 135 acre working farm (horses, chickens, Devon cattle, Gotland sheep).
Swallows Cottage is environmentally friendly with heating and hot water piped to the cottages and farmhouse from solar panels and a log boiler (out of sight) which is fed with coppiced wood from sustainably managed woodland. Swallows Cottage has been excellently converted from an old threshing barn into a high quality and welcoming cottage facing privately away from the owners house. Patio (table/chairs) and own small, lawned garden (across quiet farm track) with lovely countryside views.
Inside, open-plan living/dining room with fuel-efficient woodburner, TV/DVD/video and French windows to patio; well-equipped fitted kitchen (dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer); utility area (washer-drier); loo. Upstairs (stairgates), two bedrooms including a large double (5 foot bed), and a twin; bathroom (suite, shower over bath).

| Cottage Review:
We stayed here for 7 nights. 2 adults and 3 children aged 8, 3 and 1. It is in a great location with a short drive to most coastal destinations we wanted to visit. Cottage is based on a farm with various animals which my children loved. The owners were brilliant especially Jayne and her daughter Mia. They let my children help out on the farm some evenings which they really enjoyed. Cottage is even nicer than the pictures make out with plenty of room for a family. Lovely gated patio area to rear with great views over the farm and animals. |
