We stayed for New Year. Apart from being very expensive for very basic and scruffy utensils and furnishings, to us we felt a distinct hostility from the owner about having guests at all. We were asked at the very last minute on arrival not to use the heating as the oil was low. There were signs warning guests not to touch the boiler which was set to minimum. There seemed an unfriendliness about giving a bond otherwise no key (despite booking through Sykes) which just made it all a poor customer experience. The kitchen and bathroom were quite dirty and there were cobwebs all around. The BIG issue was that I inadvertently left some jewellery and the owner made it as difficult as possible for me to get it back. Despite making arrangements for its return, she then took it to the Police without informing them that she knew whose it was. I had to chase the Police myself to retrieve it and she stopped responding to me or Sykes at this point. I personally was left feeling I could no longer trust this owner to do the right thing by me given the experience I had. Awkward to deal with in my view.

Avoid. Dirty cottage, aged rickety furniture, poor standard of equipment, cutlery etc. And a request not to use any heating as the oil was low. Not good at New Year. Cobwebs plentiful. An owner who decided to avoid communicating to guest or Sykes. Never again!

The property is basic and lacking things like sufficient cutlery for a family of 4, but aside from that, the one thing to beware of is that the owner will ask for a bond of £100 that she has absolutely no intention of ever repaying.

The peoperty should therefore be being advertised at £100 more than the stated price, as that's what it will cost you.

Aside from that, there are p[lenty of nocer places to stay in Ferryside. Avoid this one.
