
Fowey (pronounced "Foy") is a picturesque and historic harbour town on the south coast of Cornwall. Well known as a popular tourist destination with stunning views, narrow cobbled Cornish streets, Fowey is built on steep hillsides overlooking a deep-water estuary, providing breathtaking views of the river and the sea. Fowey has been a trade and fishing port for centuries and has retained a great deal of its character and charm and today, it is apopular boating destination with nearby Readymoney Cove, a favourite beach for visiting holidaymakers.
Fowey is also well known for its independent shops and galleries in the narrow streets and is popular with day trippers as well as beach goers. You can also enjoy a scenic boat trip along the River Fowey or take the ferry to nearby Polruan. Fowey is also a bit of a foodie heaven, well known for its fresh seafood, served in its many excellent restaurants and pubs. There is a great selection of holiday cottages in Fowey, the town is pretty hilly though and there are traditional cottages, modern holiday homes and a great selection of rural Cornish cottages in the surrounding countryside. If you are struggling to find anything, the area is very popular, you might want to view lodge and caravan parks in nearby Polperro and Looe as alternatives. There are a number of really pretty harbourside cottages that reflect the town very well with lots of character.
