Port Isaac is better known to many as "Portwenn" in the TV series Doc Martin, a gorgeous small fishing village on the north coast of Cornwall near to Wadebridge, England. There is a small harbor that has been used for small fishing boats catching local crab and lobster and is surrounded by 18th and 19th century traiditonal cottages, fortunately some of these are Grade II listed and that has really helped the village to retain its charm. You can even try walking down Squeeze-ee-Belly Alley, one of the narrowest in England and a great example of the unique characteristics of Port Isaac and why so many people come to visit. There is a great pasty shop here as well, bulk order and take some home, they are fantastic!
Port Isaac gets really busy during the summer months, there is a great vibe here and the evenings are usually quieter. Autumn and spring are great times to visit when the crowds are not around. There are a number of holiday cottages in Port Isaac from modern holiday homes to traditional cottages in the narrow streets. As a popular location, they get booked up early and you can always find a selection of lodge and caravan sites in nearby Wadebridge and the surroudning areas if you are struggling. A really beautiful place to visit with charm and lots of character.
